As a response to the demand from the architectural market, Woodstoxx recently developed a brand new collection of wooden cladding: Fassade. We felt there was a need for a type of cladding that could meet today's sustainability needs as well as aesthetic needs.
After consulting a panel of architects, the R&D team selected two fast growing wood species to which they applied a patented treatment: Duricoat. This is how Abechi and Pina came into being. During this process, the soft wood fibres are removed by deep brushing, after which the product is fixed with a coating. This avoids the typical brittleness of thermowood and makes the product extremely scratch-resistant - much stronger than the alternatives of thermowood available on the market today. In addition to that, water stains are no longer possible thanks to the sealing of the endds. This way, the cladding stays beautiful much longer and everything ages evenly.
To also meet the aesthetic requirements of the architectural market, ten different colours and thirteen different profiles were developed within the Fassade range. This way the product can be used within a wide variety of different styles.
Finally, a lot of attention was paid to fire safety. All colours and profiles meet fire class D, which can be used for low-rise and medium-rise buildings. Some profiles even comply with fire class B, which can also be used in high-rise buildings. The intention is to be able to offer everything in fire class B eventually.
